Nowadays, the most popular tool to find the basic information we would like to know or find is " www.google.com", input some words and then enter, there will be variety of websites (or pictures) which link to our words appear. Some of detail can be used suddenly if we would like to search a bit information to know like who sing "Right Here Waiting" song, where Vanuatu is. But the most links could not give us more information to know because the information on website is usaully point in short detail so we maybe never know the other part of interesting detail we should know. Some people using only an information that they search and shown on Google without trying to find more books, reserchs or other knowledge materials to support for deeper and wider knowledge they should know so we could say that Google is making some people(accorind group) stupid. Anotherway, some people using Google as a basic tool to guide their way to something which could give them a greater knowledge (books, reserchs, etc.) so we could not say that Google is making them stupid. Finally, Google could make us stupid or not it depends on our using method if we use only information we found without trying to find other sources, we might have been making stupid by Google but if we use it as a pointing way to find more knowledge sources we are running out from stupid.

Thank you for your thoughtful response! You make a good point when you suggest that web-based searches tend to be quite superficial. Yes, good researchers need to go deeper: it is only by comparing and contrasting information (web-based or not) that we can learn to judge whether the information we have accessed is, in fact, worthwhile information.

I found it quite amusing that I started reading the article and it was explaining how these days after 2-3 pages, we are getting distracted or lose interest. I got half way through the article and found myself doing the exact same thing! I don't think 'google' is fully to blame. I think that google has made some information easily available, as a previous comment suggested, finding an artist to a song or finding stats on a country can be available within seconds. So we're getting that information that we need quickly without having to grab an encyclopaedia or dictionary and search for the information we need. I wouldn't say it's making us 'stupid', just lazy!

On the other side, I think that people these days are just too busy to sit down and read an entire article or book. It's just so much easier and more convenient to jump onto the internet and search. Now with smart phones and tablets, this is even easier!!!

I know theres been a few times where I've been in the car with friends and we will all be debating something, so we all grab out phones out and google it!!
